Why a crown
When a filling isn’t enough
A large filling leaves a tooth thin at the edges, and thin edges put every bite on the weakest part of the tooth. A crown wraps the whole tooth, so force spreads out instead of running down one crack line toward the root.

Most crowns take two visits, usually a couple of weeks apart.

Visit one: prep and a temporary crown
We numb and shape the tooth, take a digital scan, then fit a temporary crown the same day.

Visit two: your new crown
The temporary comes off, we check the fit and bite, then we bond your crown into place.

Zirconia or porcelain? We’ll help you choose.
Dr. Bastani recommends by the job the tooth does and where it sits in your mouth.
High-strength zirconia
The toughest option, for back teeth that do the hard chewing. A molar that works hard at every meal becomes a crown that shrugs off heavy biting force.
Esthetic porcelain
